The newspapers are available in print at the supermarket and digitally by email and on the supermarket's members' website. The articles come from contributors to the supermarket. There are supplier informations, recipes, zero-waste tips, surveys, informations on the Équipes Thématiques (the thematic teams), upcoming meetings, new products in the supermarket, events…

AN INVENTORY OF KEY SETS

8F was conceived as an archive of key rings and an investigation into the customisation of this object through the tales of 14 students (aged 21 to 27) at isdaT.

The first part consists of methodical information about keys. The second part proposes to read and see the students' key rings. In the manner of a police report, each piece of data regarding the interview and the key-ring is listed in table form. The narrative is an exact transcript of the exchange between the person and me, after the presentation of the objects.

The cover is a screen-printed A2 poster with a collection of logos of various metalwork suppliers and locksmiths (it's a tribute to Hans-Rudolf Lutz) working in and around Toulouse. A silk-screened postcard with the illustrated table of contents is inserted in the book.

SILK-SCREEN POSTERS

During this trip to Germany, I made a little list of objects and habits that I found interesting.

Like: Abendbrot and all the tools for bread (Brot), shoehorns (Schuhlöffel) in people's house, candles in glass bottles on tables (Kerze) and the gumball machines (Kaugummiautomaten) still in the streets. They are on sale on Coude'pouce.

SYMPHONY CONCERT BOOKLET & APP

Layout of the 6 symphonies of Gustav Mahler's Song of the Earth (1908) in its original German version and its French translation.

The texts are accompanied by short notes that give a better understanding of the musical atmosphere of each symphony. The texts are set alongside images of paintings by Paul Klee, a Swiss expressionist painter whose art is similar to Gustav Mahler's universe.

This booklet is intended to be distributed before the concert conducted by Paul Daniel and which took place at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse. It is mainly used as a souvenir to allow the audience to read the texts again and to better understand the opera.
‍
A mobile version with the possibility of listening to different versions of the concert has also been developped.

Le Récamier
REVIVED TYPEFACE SPECIMEN

Récamier is a typeface found in the 1934 Catalogue Général from Warnery & Cie type foundry (Paris). It's a Baroque Antique typeface, with short ascenders️, and fairly wide proportions, similar to Times.

With my classmates, we digitised it. With Inès, Pauline and Romane, a specimen in the shape of a broadsheet newspaper was then created and printed by Newspaper Club [UK]. To reflect the typeface in its various sizes, texts from the book Plumes & Pinceaux by Anne Lafont (2012) were laid out. This is a collection of writings by women writers from the early 20th century.

I contributed to the newspaper's double-page spread by using archives of advertisements of the early 20th century newspapers. I had fun with Récamier on showing the styles that could be developed. The central ad with Juliette Récamier was created from scratch, after having understood and assimilated the graphic codes of those around it.

INTERNSHIP REPORT(S)

A book giving a double reading of my two internship experiences, the first one in July 2021 at La Ferme de la Mhotte (supervised by the artists of Bureau d'Études) and then with the graphic design duo carbone paroles from September to October 2021. This is a presentation of these two structures, the missions I did and my reflections, both professional and personal.

La Ferme de la Mhotte (Saint-Menoux) is a place off property, where a group of people put their uses together to create a social project at the crossroads of culture, agriculture and education.
‍
carbone paroles (Toulouse) is composed of the graphic designer and teacher Bianca Millon-Devigne and the visual artist and graphic designer Sylvain Ameil.

IDENTITY PROJECT (LA MHOTTE FARM)

This booklet serves as a tool for a collective workshop to come up with logotype and a graphic identity in order to communicate and promote Les Vallées du Chamarron association.

It is composed of farms and a school whose aim is to establish a common territory and to work together on its future. For the logotype composition, textures, shapes, figurative and symbolic elements are here to be cut out and combined.

After a presentation of the realisations, a logotype will be chosen. It will be used on paper and digital materials and will carry the identity of the association and the projects that will be set up.

DAILY LIFE OF A GRANNY FROM BEARN [FR]

My grandmother Madeleine grew up and still lives in Barzun, a village between Pau and Tarbes in Southwest France, not far from the Pyrenees. Her quiet rural life could be summed up in this short film.

With an 8mm camera (which my father used), I shot elements of her life that have always caught my eye since I was little. Details like her aprons, her kitchen, her chickens, the photos of her when she was younger, the old tiles in the house, the doily curtains, the old copper pans, the Bearnaise language…

This project is also nourished by film photographs I took a few months before, during the summer, which were the draft of the film. I also collected objects that represent her. I intend to pursue this project by creating a sort of installation in the space of this small world in which Madeleine evolved.

FOUND PHOTOGRAPHS

Project in collaboration with Thibault Menz. This is an investigation book about photographs found in a flea market. This publication goes along with an interactive documentary in which the reader has to face some choices to investigate these photographs. Its goal is to give more information about the historical and political context of some of the photos, suggestions of where they were taken and to be able to annotate research steps and to trace routes on maps.

Deconstructing gRAPhic design
questioning THE established rules

Laure Giletti [Brussels, BE] presented a collective workshop entitled « Il faut de l’air pour entretenir le feu » (transl.: "It requires air to keep the fire burning"). She first brought us together around texts that deconstruct graphic design and typography such as The Responsible Object: A History of Design Ideology for the Future, Baseline Shift: Untold Stories of Women in Graphic Design History or Does Design Care? After reading these, each group suggested ways to visualise a given graphic design concept. The group of which I was a part, focused on the rules that are rooted and about what makes the foundation, as could be a 50 years old tree.

A cyanotype fabric was made altogether to reflect all the notions to be thought about in the field of graphic design. The works of each group were then inserted between the folds' tissue. In my team, I worked in tandem to produce two normographs: the first, smaller, features an alphabet and some classical shapes, while the second, larger, features inclusive glyphs and more abstract shapes.

Grégor
life of a mysterious traveler

Initiated by the graphic design duo Tradittore, tradutore (Clément Faydit and Rozenn Voyer [Marseille, FR]), this work is based on the narrative of a part of this character's life. My Grégor is the pioneer of podcasts such as Les Pieds sur Terre on France Culture. In the 1980s, he traveled secretly to collect the words of people who wanted to talk to him. Recorded on tapes, they were sent to radio stations.

Inside this (empty) cassette, there are elements that belonged to him: a postcard sent to his mother, a fortune cookie paper, a cigarette end, a Croatian coin, a Berlin transport ticket, an apothek (pharmacy) receipt and an edition of « Dans ma valise, il y a… » (transl.: “In my suitcase, there are…”. The tapes were then sent to three people. As an envelope, a map was used, showing Grégor's eventual route through Europe and the names of the people he encountered written on it.
